Summer Newsletter, 2011.

Welcome to our latest newsletter. We have been very busy in our new workshops since we moved last September, and very many of you have found our new premises and visited us. We have been delighted to welcome you, and hope that you enjoyed the facilities we can now offer. If you are not able to visit us, you can see pictures of our workshop in our gallery section on our web-site.

The Glass Museum, certainly one of the most comprehensive collections in the South-west, and containing items of national importance, fascinates visitors, and you will soon be able to see pictures of the range of items on display on our web-site.

We have had lots of coach parties recently, many of them taking advantage of our refreshment facilities to have morning coffee or afternoon tea, or a buffet lunch. If you would like to organise a visit for your group or club, please give Angela a ring at the workshop, 01179 636 900, to arrange catering, and make sure your date does not clash with another pre-booked visit. Of course, we are pleased to welcome small parties and individual visitors at any time without booking, absolutely free of charge. We are open every day from 10.00.a.m. to 4.00.p.m. Evening visits can be arranged by appointment. Don’t  forget that there is ample free parking immediately outside the workshop for cars and coaches, and there are no stairs or ramps to negotiate once you arrive.

On Thursday 2nd. June we are organising a special ‘Half-term Hand-casting Day’. We have already had a great deal of interest in this, and we shall be running similar opportunities on the first and third Saturdays of each month during the summer. Please ring or send an e-mail if you would like more details.

Our ‘Glass Blowing Taster Courses’ have been very successful, and they are continuing during the summer through to the autumn. Details are on our web-site, and you can book either by e-mail or ‘phone.

In September we are taking part in the ‘Heritage Open Day’ Event in Bristol. As part of that we will be launching our own publication ‘The Wonderful World of Glass’ which will use pictures of some of the items in the Museum to give a brief history of glass-making. There will also be an exhibition of our latest designs that we are working on at the moment, including the ‘Images of Nature’ Collector’s Edition and ‘Graal’ glass featuring the work of the international artist John Ford who is working with us on a series of stunning designs exclusively for our workshops. Keep looking at our web-site for more details!

With best wishes from the team at Bristol Blue Glass South West Bedminster.
