Bristol Blue Glass (South West) designs and produces Lead Crystal Glassware to the very highest standard, using our own unique batch blend of Silica Sand, Lead Oxide, Potash & Cobalt to maintain the colour match produced centuries ago when Bristol blue glass first took the fancy of rich merchants and traders around the city. By doing so we have produced that unique soft blue colour that today we associate with Bristol Blue Glass and in turn earned a reputation for excellence through skill and design.

Our products range from classical, modern and commissioned pieces, and covers Tableware, Stemware, Centre Pieces, Presentation Trophies, many unusual “one offs” and a wide range of gift items for that special occasion. All production processes are undertaken on site at Bristol Blue Glass (South West) in Bristol and customers are most welcome to view our glass blowers at work at any time during normal working hours.

All our pieces are handcrafted and unique, and therefore individual items may differ slightly in size and thickness, which although minute, is proof that your Bristol Blue Crystal has been Free Blown.

Items are made to order by time served craftsmen, Steve Baker and his team, whose combined years of experience make this a unique team in Bristol.

Since the introduction of Bristol Blue Glass back in the 18^th century it was noticed that the unique soft blue of the Bristol Glass blends excellently with the contrasting silver ware of the aristocratic owner. Today we can now bring that blend into one single piece by applying sterling silver onto the glass in rings, bands or unique decorative designs.

Steve Baker the Master Blower and founding member of Bristol Blue Glass (South West) started his apprenticeship with Dartington Glass in Devon where he worked for 18 years. He soon became a fully practiced and experienced glassmaker and Servitor. During his career Steve has either worked for or has been offered positions with most of the major glassmakers throughout the UK including Edinburgh, Waterford and Royal Welsh Crystal. It was at Royal Welsh Crystal that Steve ’s desire and ambition to design and blow Bristol Blue Glass came to fruition. He moved to Bristol and found a location suitable to start production. He has now built up an enviable reputation for the quality of his glass blowing and supplies several prestigious businesses in the area both for the items featured on this website and also for specially commisioned pieces and collectors items.
